Are US employees being pushed out while offshore hiring continues???

What's really going on with layoffs in the technology org? There is a growing concern that US based employees are being disproportionately targeted for RIFs while offshore teams continue expanding + adding headcount and responsibilities and certain groups remain largely unaffected. In some dpts, experienced US employees with solid performance histories are reportedly being eliminated while work continues to shift to lowercost geographies/locations. There are also concerns about hiring + promotion practices, especialy in teams where leadership appears to favor employees from some personal or prof networks. Is this simply a costcutting exercise, or are there deeper problems with how decisions are being made?????? JPM promotes opportunities for employees to move between dpts, yet some people who receive RIF notices find themselves unable to transfer.... even when another team wants to hire them.... What's the point of having a redeployment process if employees selected for layoffs are effectively disqualified from internal positions? Is this an official policy or are individual mgrs and recruiters making these decisions???? Mgmt also appears to be increasingly using AI adoption and efficiency improvements to explain workforce reductions... But are these positions genuinely becoming unnecessary because of automation or iAI simply providing a convenient justification for reducing expensive US headcount? If the work still needs to be performed & is subsequently transferred offshore, calling it an AI-driven efficiency improvement seems questionable, at least to me. IMO the biggest issue is transparency or lack of it. We deserve to understand whether layoffs are based on performance, comp, location, org restructuring, or some combination of these factors. When strong performers are eliminated without meaningful explanations, internal transfers are reportedly blocked, and similar positions continue to exist elsewhere, it's ok to question how fairly the process is being managed. For those currently working in JPMorgan Tech, CCB, or AWM are you seeing US positions eliminated while offshore hiring continues???? Have you witnessed differences in how layoffs affect employees based on location or visa status (I'd bet money on this)??? And has anyone actually managed to secure an internal transfer after receiving a RIF notice?
