A few weeks ago, I walked into the new Irvine office for the first time during my shift. The space looked clean and modern, but it felt more like a showroom than a workplace. I overheard someone from another team say it was a fancy new office, but it didn't take long for the reality to hit. The layout is confusing, and the open spaces make it hard to concentrate. I spent way too much time trying to find a quiet spot to log into the CRM for my reports. The noise levels are distracting, and I can't get my usual work done without interruptions. At one point, I had to move to a different area just to take a call because it was too loud where I was. I felt frustrated, thinking about how this change is supposed to be an improvement. It just seems like a punishment for those of us who actually need to get work done.
