working 9am-9pm was the norm

Last month, I found myself in a 9am-9pm grind. It was a Wednesday in Stockholm, Stockholm. I was finishing up a report when my manager dropped by to check on things. Instead of discussing deadlines, he mentioned how working late is just part of the job here. No one really bats an eye if you're still at your desk after hours. I remember feeling drained, but I nodded and kept typing. It's common to see people still logged on long after sunset. I've seen plenty of colleagues pull similar hours, often without any acknowledgment of the toll it takes. The benefits are good, but they don't make up for the lack of balance. This isn't just about me, it feels like a company-wide issue. It's hard to recharge when the expectations seem endless.
