I recently received an offer for a VP-level technology role at JPMorgan in London after several rounds of interviews, including technical assessments, and I'm disappointed with the compensation. T he offer is £125k base plus a £15k sign-on bonus, which essentially replaces the bonus I'd be giving up at my current employer. I made it clear throughout the process that I was targeting around £160k in total compensation, but HR insists there's no room to negotiate. I've pushed back, but I'm questioning whether £125k is competitive for a technology VP in London, especially given the expectations and responsibilities at this level. Has anyone at JPMorgan managed to negotiate a better offer after HR initially refused? Is this salary typical, or am I being lowballed? I'm also wondering whether the career opportunities and potential salary progression at JPMorgan justify accepting less than expected. Would you take the offer or walk away? I'd particularly appreciate opinions from people familiar with JPMorgan's London technology division.
