Chevron is a Houston-based oil and gas company that produces crude oil and natural gas and refines it into fuels, with 43,039 employees at December 31, 2025. That count includes 5,179 people working at service stations.
The fiscal 2025 10-K reports two segments: Upstream and Downstream. Upstream finds and produces crude oil and natural gas, and also runs LNG plants and export pipelines. Downstream refines crude into fuels, markets those products and makes lubricants, renewable fuels and petrochemicals. Under Other Businesses, the Technology, Projects and Execution group holds engineering, capital projects, procurement, digital and data science, and the IT organization. Assets named in the filing include the Permian Basin, the Gulf of America, Gorgon and Wheatstone in Australia, Tengizchevroil in Kazakhstan and Leviathan in Israel. Chevron acquired Hess Corporation on July 18, 2025. Headquarters are at 1400 Smith Street in Houston.
H-1B labor condition applications (LCAs) filed by Chevron Corporation and Chevron USA Inc numbered 26 in calendar 2025. Of those, 19 list Houston as the worksite, and no city reached 25 filings that year. Across 2019 through 2026 (2026 is a partial year), Houston accounts for 176 of 267 filings and is the only city above 25. Filings from Chevron Phillips Chemical, a 50 percent-owned affiliate, are not counted here.
