ConocoPhillips is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company based in Houston, with about 9,900 employees in 14 countries at the end of 2025. It finds, produces, transports and sells crude oil, bitumen, natural gas, natural gas liquids and LNG.
Production averaged 2,375 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2025, up 20% on 2024, helped by the Marathon Oil acquisition completed in November 2024. The portfolio mixes North American unconventional plays, conventional fields on four continents, LNG projects and Canadian oil sands. At December 31, 2025, wells were producing in nine countries: the US, Norway, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Libya, China, Qatar and Equatorial Guinea. Total assets were about $122 billion on that date. Headquarters are in Houston, Texas. The current company dates from the Conoco and Phillips Petroleum merger, completed on August 30, 2002; the downstream business was split off as Phillips 66 in April 2012.

The 196 LCA filings from 2019 through 2026 carry 138 distinct titles, and the most common appear only four times each: Staff Reservoir Engineer, Crude Optimization Trader, Senior Geologist and Integration Operations Sr. Analyst. In calendar 2025, the 13 filings used 12 titles. Staff Geologist appeared twice; Principal Process Safety Engineer, Staff Completions Engineer and Crude Optimization Trader appeared once each. Level words in these titles include Senior (or Sr.), Staff and Principal; the filings do not show how they rank. Of three US postings on the careers site on October 13, 2026, one used Senior (Commercial DT Senior Data Solution Developer) and none used numbered levels. Entry roles for 2027 are titled Graduate or Graduate Analyst.
Five operating segments, defined by geography, appear in the 2025 10-K: Alaska; Lower 48; Canada; Europe, Middle East and North Africa; and Asia Pacific. Hiring is sorted differently. On October 13, 2026 the careers site grouped jobs into 12 career areas: Commercial; Engineering; Finance; Geosciences; Health, Safety and Environment; Human Resources; Information Technology; Land Administration; Land Management; Real Estate and Facilities Services; Supply Chain; and Sustainable Development. Of about 9,900 employees at December 31, 2025, about 62% were in the US. Norway held 16%, Canada 8%, Equatorial Guinea 4%, Malaysia 3% and other locations 7%. On September 3, 2025, the CEO announced cuts of 20% to 25% of the workforce, then reported at about 13,000 people. A September 4, 2025 notice to the Texas Workforce Commission said Houston cuts could meet the state reporting threshold, starting as early as November 10, 2025, without giving a count. The 10-K records $286 million of 2025 restructuring severance expense. LCA filings ran at 29 a year in 2020 through 2022, peaked at 50 in 2023, then fell to 21 in 2024 and 13 in 2025.
