last week in the office, a senior engineer mentioned how many roles seem to open only in stockholm or new york. this was during a lunch break on the 5th floor. it hit me hard because i've been waiting for a year to move up. i'm in a good spot, solid performance, but no clear path here in my city. they talked about how pay is reasonable but not great, which i already know. i've seen people get promoted quickly in those hubs but here, it feels like i'm stuck. even with all the perks like gym reimbursements and parental leave, it doesn't make up for the lack of opportunities. i left that lunch feeling more resigned than ever. not sure what's next for me at SPOT.
