Having a fun office atmosphere and good coworkers is a big plus. Stocked kitchens, holiday parties, and even casual gym runs create a sense of community. Unfortunately, upper management sometimes creates discomfort through implied expectations, gossip, or favoritism. That tension can offset all the positives of the space.
