i was in a meeting last week in san jose when someone asked about internal transfers. a manager mentioned that the process can be pretty limited. they said not everyone gets a chance to rotate, especially in roles like ours. it felt like they were saying it's tough to find a way out. i thought about colleagues who had looked at opportunities in places like ottawa or even bengaluru, only to be disappointed. it kind of hit home, since i'm thinking about my own future. i know some people say they want rtoation for growth, but getting there seems complicated. after the meeting, i just left feeling stuck, like i have to settle where i am for now.
