my manager raised his voice in a meeting last week. we were discussing the project timeline and he seemed frustrated. he pointed at the timeline on the screen and said that we're behind. he called out a couple of us specifically, saying we're not pulling our weight. it felt awkward and tense in the room, especially with those of us who just started getting the hang of things. this was on a Thursday morning in Jakarta, part of our usual BU review. the thing is, some of us knew there were delays in other areas, but everything sensed like it fell on individual contributions. later, a colleague told me that this happens alot here, adding to the stress. still, it seems odd to put pressure on newer hires when they're still figuring out the unwritten rules.
