I submitted a request to WFA back in July, wanting to spend a month working from my family's place in another state. The initial response was positive, but then my manager said he had some concerns about team coverage. I was told they'd have to check with HR about the request. Weeks passed with no updates, so I followed up. Eventually, I got a flat-out denial because they needed me in the office for meetings, even though I was fully remote. It felt counter to the policy that Spotify promotes. During this time, I also saw the news about Q3 revenue up, which got me thinking - what's the point of a WFA policy that doesn't deliver? Everyone talks about the flexibility but in practice, it just doesn't feel real anymore. tl;dr: WFA policy is strangely restrictive and disappointing.
